Welcome to the home of The Southern Horror Writers
Association

Our Mission:
In today's literary world, it can be near impossible
for an "up and coming" writer to even get their foot
in the door of the publishing world. Bookstores
won't carry your book unless it is published, and
publishers won't even look at your work unless you
have already been published. It is a frustrating
cycle!

Here, at the Southern Horror Writers Association,
we aim to give those "up and comers" a chance!
Our goal is to lend a hand to the fresh voices in the
fields of horror, suspense, thrillers, sci-fi ,fantasy
and the supernatural. Whether your talent lies in
novels, short stories, poems or art and photography, we're
here to help you get your work exposed to the
world!

dedicated to the future of horror: their members. They take each writer, poet and artist
under their wing regardless of status and nurture their ability to network, enhance their
talents and most importantly, get published. They provide a direct path of promotion and
establishment for new and recognized writers alike. I’m proud to be a member of such an
enthusiastic group."

-Jessica Lynne Gardner

“The SHWA is full of good people with a lot of experience under their belts. It includes
some of the finest professionals in the genre today, as well as up-and-comers. This would
be a good place to join, a great place to seek advice and reach out for help. As a writer, this
should definitely be one of your destinations on the career map.”

-Joseph McGee, bestselling author of Snow Hill and The Reaper.

--"The Southern Horror Writers Association is a supportive community and it's easy to
make friends there. The whole point of this organization is writers helping writers."

-Scott Nicholson

"The Southern Horror Writer's Assocation is probably the most helpful and welcoming
writer's group I've ever been a part of. It's always fun to be around people who have the
same passions that you do, but it's even more thrilling when they're eager to make you a
part of their projects. I can't recommend SHWA highly enough. They'll not only keep you
writing horror--they'll make you better at it."
