Howard Hopkins

Howard knew he'd have to write a western the moment a horse bit him in the britches...

"Twenty-eight western novels later," says the author, with a mischievous glint in his eye, "I still have
no idea why that particular horse nipped me, but I'm sure thankful for it!"

The incident inspired a number of reviewer-acclaimed horror novels as well. Besides writing 28 print
westerns for Robert Hale, LTD under the Lance Howard pseudonym, the critically acclaimed author
also writes fear-drenched horror tales under his own name. From the dusty streets of the Western
Frontier to the fog-shrouded seaside alleys of the present, Howard weaves tales of spellbinding
action, real-life characters and nonstop escape.

Born December 12, 1961 and hailing from the picturesque coastal Maine town of Old Orchard, he
has written dozens of articles, short stories, and novels, which have seen print in hardcover and
trade paperback, as well as multiple electronic formats. In the late 80s-early 90s, he published and
edited the pulp journal, GOLDEN PERILS, which he has recently resurrected in PDF ezine format.

Howard's breakout novel NIGHT DEMONS (www.lulu.com/goldenperils), a mind-twisting thriller,
grabbed the number four slot on the prestigious 2002 Preditors & Editors' Top Novel poll. He
finished Top Ten in many other categories: best author, best artist, best novel, best ezine, best ezine
editor.

Known for redefining the limits of traditional Shoot-'em-up, Howard's westerns mix Wild West action
with immediate, modern issues, real-life charactres, and unique storylines that make the Western
accessible and riveting to readers who cherish those thrilling days of yesteryear aas well as those
who normally avoid the genre. A dash of mystery, a bit of romance, a hint of the supernatural and a
heaping helping of personality--Lance Howard westerns have it all.

"I would love readers who have never read a western and never wanted to to come away from my
books feeling as if they have read something more, something a bit different." says the author, with a
warm smile. "The nicest thing I have ever heard from a new fan was: 'Wow, I never thought I'd like a
western but I loved this!' I hope to introduce a new generation of readers to a classic genre while at
the same time giving them a wild ride in the saddle that keeps 'em coming back for more."

Likewise, his tales of horror are guaranteed to make readers sleep with the lights on and check
beneath their beds before retiring. From demons who lurk in the night, to vampires riding the darkest
reaches of the Wild West, to a coven of witches seeking to resurrect an ancient evil, Howard's novels
raise goosebumps, blood pressures and uncontrollable shudders.

In addition to his novels his short stories have appeared in numerous magazines, including a recent
tale for Moonstone Books The Spider Chronicles with author John Jakes.

Howard is an active member of the Western Writers of America, EPIC and EPPRO electronic writers
